June to September
Stark, arid and with average altitudes varying between 9,000-13,000 feet above sea level, these areas provide a region for travel when the rest of India is under umbrellas due to the monsoons. Being in a Trans-Himalayan belt, these months provide opportunities for high altitude trekking, mountain biking, self-contained jeep safaris, river rafting and an excellent insight into the Buddhist and tribal cultures that prevails in the remote monasteries and villages, still pretty much intact from the modern world.
May to November
Described by the early Himalayan explorers as the most beautiful part of the Himalaya, this area offers opportunities for travelers looking for that little bit more. A lesser traveled region, and a haven for trekkers and paddlers alike, this region will give you an experience which will not have very many rivals.
Once the favourite of a privileged few, Skiing has emerged as the high-adrenalin pastime well within the range of the common man now. There is unsullied and powdery snow for the purist; punishing runs for the accomplished and ego-conscious and easy slopes and understanding instructors for wobbly beginners and confident intermediates. When you are at any skiing resort, each day brings a fresh challenge to conquer and relish. You have to master the twists and turns and jumps of skiing, completing a longer ski run and achieving faster speed. The slopes are warmed by excited cries and laughter of entrants every winter in Indian Himalayas. Sites for skiing include Jammu and Kashmir, the hills of Kumaon, Himachal Pradesh and the North eastern states of India that have become the favourite ski hideouts of adventure lovers. Skiing Equipments such as Skis, Boots, Sticks, Gloves and Goggles are provided on hire basis your requirements.

Expert advice
There are some very perquisites for skiing, physical fitness being the most important. You should start getting into shape at least 15 days before arriving at the slopes. Extra attention should be paid to strengthening the knee joints as they are the most common injury areas. Ensure to use the right kind of equipment to enjoy the sport fully. Specialized ski-clothing, gloves, UV-resistant sunglasses and a monkey-cap are some of the must-haves before hitting the slopes. Carbon skis are the ideal equipment. Regular intake of fluids is mandatory to avoid getting dehydrated. Do not forget to slap on that new SpF 50 sunscreen for a happy skiing photograph.
